PERSONAL
I am the youngest of three children, with my sister being the oldest and my brother being the middle child. My Dad was a carpenter and my Mom was a stay-at-home mom for most of my childhood, but then worked as a cashier at a couple of local grocery stores later.
I played sports as a kid, with football (quarterback) and baseball (2nd base) being my two favorites. My last year in baseball was when I was 15 and played football 7th-12th grades. I was the class president 7th-9th grade, as well as my senior year. I was the class Salutatorian my senior year. I also received a few academic awards during my senior year, including one from the Sons of the American Revolution.
Though I liked all school subjects, my favorites were Math and English. During my senior year, I was encouraged by one of my favorite teachers to try her computer programming class and that changed my life. Thanks Pat!
I moved to Phoenix in my 20s, where I started my programming career. That’s also where I met my wife. I have two children, a son and a daughter. After playing the three traditional sports as a kid, my favorites as an adult were cycling, tennis, volleyball, and golf. Now it is all about golf. My wife and I love to play every chance we get.
In 1997, we moved to the Pittsburgh area and that’s where we live today.
