Before starting this project, the back of our property had several trees and lots of brush. I decided to clear all of that out and build a vegetable garden. So in 2001, I started the work. I envisioned a garden with four quadrants with a set of stairs running through the middle. There would be two tiers, each with two quadrants separated by the stairs.

I used a line level to determine the slope and distance. Once that was determined, I dug out (pick and shovel) where the stairs would go. I then created the forms and then mixed/poured the concrete.

Once the stairs were done, I worked on each of the quadrants. This was a multi-year project, but as each quadrant was finished, I brought in top soil and planted vegetables. We had so much produce!
